Research
Research Interests
International relations and non-traditional security issues in the Indo-Pacific region
Uyghur persecution and genocide: Anna has published on this topic and continues to research the ongoing situation within the Uyghur homeland. More recently, Anna has focused on how the Chinese government silences criticism of their actions in Xinjiang through Belt and Road Initiative funding as well as Beijing's success in compromising the effectiveness of the Human Rights Council in appropriately responding to this issue.
Geo-strategic dimensions of the return of great power competition in the Indo-Pacific: Anna's research provides insights into the strategic competition between the US and China and how this is playing out within the Indo-Pacific. Her research examines the Belt and Road Initiative as a grand strategy for achieving the Chinese Dream and how this impacts regional states. This includes examinations of Chinese international relations under the leadership of Xi Jinping.
The Quad, AUKUS and the Australian strategic outlook: Anna's research also examines how Australia is responding to the growing strategic competition and competing grand strategies of the US and China and how this influences Australian foreign and defence policies.
