Alexandra Beauregard's Visit to JCUS
Professor Alexandra Beauregard, from the University of London, is intending to visit Singapore from 3rd to 10th May (Days in JCUS: 4th-8th May) to conduct a series of workshops and talks for our research faculty and post-graduate students. Her visit will coincide with Prof Eddy Ng and the PCC Cluster Research Soiree. The “Wake-Up Call”: Understanding sleep difficulties in Singapore’s Adolescents and facilitators and barriers to implementation of a sleep intervention programme
The primary aim is to explore the experiences and perceptions of adolescents and parents to identify the facilitators and barriers to the implementation of a sleep wellness programme. The secondary aim is to explore the nature of sleep difficulties in local adolescents across age ranges, academic and socio-economic backgrounds. This qualitative research project will be conducted through individual semi-structured interviews with adolescents 10-17 years old and focus group discussions for parents with adolescents. Data will be analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings will be used to guide the design of an effective and sustainable school and community-based sleep wellness programme catered for local adolescents.
Navigating Online Psychology Learning Amidst COVID-19: Examining the Role of Academic Resilience, Self-Efficacy, and Social Support
The International Conference on Psychology Learning and Teaching (PLAT-2024) focuses on the challenges and issues related to psychology learning and how they affect the mental health and well-being of students. Our research is closely aligned with the conference theme and will offer an excellent opportunity to showcase our research and foster future collaboration. We examined how social support, academic resilience, and self-efficacy can affect online psychology learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results indicate that a strong online learning platform that offers social support and develops students' academic self-efficacy can enhance academic resilience.
11th European Conference on Positive Psychology - Conference Application
Conference funding is requested for attendance at the 11th European Conference on Positive Psychology which is being held in July, 2024 in Innsbruck, Australia. This is a biannual conference which attracts the leading global researchers in the field. We have had a poster presentation accepted for the conference, based on JCUS research investigation wellbeing in Singapore.
Serving the underserved in the tropics: Making a difference with positive psychology (Old ID 25136)
As the first AASP (mini) conference focusing on serving the underserved in the tropics, the proposed mini conference aims to address this gap to promote making a difference in tropical Asia with positive psychology. The themes of the mini conference include: * mental health and psychological wellbeing in the tropics; * projudice, discimination and structural inequality; * individual and community resilience.
Examining employer’s attitudes and behaviours towards migrant domestic workers
Development of a new scale to measure employer attitudes and behaviours towards migrant domestic workers. Scale will subsequently be used to investigate how employer attitudes and behaviours relate to the mental health and well-being of MDWs
Temasek Foundation Youth Connect Restful Minds Initiative: Tier 3 (moderate intensity services)
This project involves the training and evaluation of a sleep intervention for youth in Singapore. Following the Singapore Ministry of Health's Tiered Care Model for Mental Health Care Delivery, the intervention will be a Tier 3 (moderate intensity services) intervention. Clinical psychologists will be trained to implement the Transdiagnostic Intervention for Sleep and Circadian Dysfunction (TranS-C) for Youth. Programme evaluation will be undertaken for both (a) the training of the clinical psychologists and (b) the clinical outcomes of their clients.
