Current Project -
Childhood traumatic experience can impact individual's future development. In this project, we are interested to know if childhood adversity will impact on Hikikomori (social withdrawal behaviors).Several factors will be considered in the relationship between childhood adversity on Hikikomori; specifically, school refusal, social support, technology addiction, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and demographics (e.g., SES) will be the core variables to examine in a correlational design. One of the main aims will be to understand the reasons behind Hikikomori among Asian Youths and Adults. We hope to develop models (from different perspectives) for explaining the link between childhood adversity and Hikikomori. Further, we also wish to develop preventive programs to lessen social withdrawal behaviors. Research method and analysis techniques such as mediation, moderation, and factor analysis will be employed.
