Bowel Sounds Sensor Project in term newborn babies

To evaluate a novel, miniaturised, non-stethoscope based bowel sounds sensor (BoSS) with signals being processed and acquired by Bluetooth onto a Samsung S7 phone. BoSS1 Project aims to evaluate the quality, user friendliness in acquisition and correlation of bowel sounds analysis with health and sickness in term babies.

Sleep Habit/A Mobile App to Reduce Bedtime Procrastination
This research presents the design and functionality of a mobile app aimed at addressing bedtime procrastination among busy professionals. The app leverages self-regulation principles, social accountability, and gamification to promote healthier sleep habits. Core features include personalized goal-setting, bedtime routine tracking, progress monitoring through dashboards, and social sharing to enhance motivation. Users benefit from custom reminders, community support, and rewards for consistent adherence to bedtime goals. A typical user experience includes daily reminders, habit reinforcement through motivational messages, and weekly progress summaries. By fostering structured sleep routines, the app improves sleep quality, energy levels, and overall well-being.
Goal-Focused and Social Monitoring Approaches to Reducing Bedtime Procrastination

This project aims to develop a web application that engages users in setting bedtime goals, making the goals public on social media, monitoring the goals, and tracking sleep behaviours. It also aims to test the efficacy of the web application in reducing bedtime procrastination using an experimental approach. The web application designed for the study can be refined and developed into a mobile application for commercialization. The commercialization of the mobile application could attract academic and industry collaborations and opportunities for external research grants.
Asian shark and ray capacity building workshops

This was an invited proposal from (1) Synchronicity Earth and (2) the Save Our Seas Foundation to support capacity-building efforts for shark and ray researchers and conservationists in Asia. The project will see 30 delegates from 9 countries across Asia to attend a week-long capacity and skills development workshop hosted at Palawan State University in the Philippines.

Addressing Bedtime Procrastination with Behavioural Technology: Introducing SleepSync

With rising concerns about sleep-related health issues, researchers have di-rected their focus to understanding how bedtime procrastination contributes to sleep-related problems and the ways to tackle it how to tackle it. This is due to evidence linking bedtime procrastination to poor sleep quality and quantity, increased daytime fatigue, and poor sleep cycle. Technological ad-vancements have emerged as promising tools, with numerous sleep-tracking and sleep- behaviour apps developed to address sleep-related issues. How-ever, the existing apps exhibit critical gaps in targeting bedtime procrastina-tion behaviours. The present paper reviews the current landscape of sleep apps by analyzing how the apps monitor and mitigate sleep-related behaviour and highlights existing gaps in this domain. Next, we introduce SleepSync, an innovative app specifically designed to address bedtime procrastination be-haviour. SleepSync's design integrates Carver and Scheier’s self-regulation theory and Zajonc’s social facilitation effect to enhance users’ self-regulation and behavioural activation through behavioural interventions, sleep tracking, and gamification. The validation and future iterations of the SleepSync prototype will shape it into a fully functional, user-friendly mo-bile app suitable for everyday use and broader commercialization.
