Biography
I have been a lecturer in occupational therapy at James Cook University since 2012. I completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2006 and completed a Master of Public Health (Health Promotion) with distinction in 2011. In 2021, I completed my PhD, exploring the transition of work to retirement and the role of occupational therapy within this transition.
I have a keen interest in facilitating a positive student experience and in building student capacity to be independent learners and subsequent graduates. I am currently the Occupational Therapy Professional Honours coordinator, the subject coordinator for the third and fourth year professional honours subjects and supervisor of professional honours student groups. My leadership and expertise within learning and teaching was acknowledged with a 2020 JCU Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning.
My research initiatives also relate to my learning and teaching practices along with continuing exploration of the work-to-retirement transition. I am the primary supervisor of a PhD student and research honours students.
