Biography
Dr Sharma joined the College of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University, Australia as a Senior Lecturer and discipline lead in Periodontology in 2016. Dileep completed his Bachelor Degree in Dentistry and Clinical Masters in Periodontology from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences India, with high distinction. He started his teaching tenure at the same university and from there on he has accumulated over a decade of teaching and research experience in various universities both in India and Australia.
Dr Sharma’s Australian career started on the award of highly competitive and prestigious Commonwealth Funded scholarships, the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and International Postgraduate research scholarship (IPRS) to conduct his research project on Medication-induced osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) that led to award of PhD from Griffith University, Australia. His tenure was highlighted by prestigious peer-reviewed publications, multiple awards for scientific and academic achievement(s) and competitive research grants along with sessional teaching at School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Griffith University.
Dileep is currently leading a research team working on the development of novel Ceramic dental Implant material that is deemed to be the future of metal-free Implant Dentistry.
Dileep is on the advisory panel for multiple PhD and Honours candidates whilst being in-charge of developing and delivery of undergraduate curriculum in Periodontology for the BDS course and also the Year Coordinator for Year 4 in Dentistry.
