Biography
Kim Lim’s research seeks to create actionable interventions with impact to create sustainable and behavioral changes concerning the most pressing issues in organizations. His research interests lie primarily in contemporary issues such as on future of work, employee attitudes, and employee behaviors. He also investigates consumer behavior across different contexts such as technology adoption, hospitality, and tourism. Kim Lim is an avid publisher and a regular reviewer in several ABDC/SSCI indexed journals including the British Food Journal, the European Business Review, and the Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics (see "Google Scholar" for a complete listing). He also sits on the editorial committee of journals such as the Journal of Global Responsibilities, Kim Lim is also an accredited professional member of the Singapore Human Resource Institute and the Society of Industrial and Organisational Psychology. Other than empirical research, Kim Lim has been commissioned with several applied research from government agencies to private organizations. He has also been invited as a speaker to several regional conferences sharing his insights on tourism trends, employment trends, and the future of work (see "Honours" for more information). Prior to teaching, Kim Lim spent more than 10 years in the public sector where his expertise lies in the full spectrum of HR work, doing operational HR, strategic HR, and national-level HR policy work.
Students who are interested to pursue a PhD or any Higher Degree in Research at James Cook University Singapore under my supervision may choose to develop and lead a project in any areas listed below:
Smart technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, and algorithms (STARA) on work - Focusing on how STARA is transforming various aspects of work, such as job automation, skill requirements, employees' perception of work, and organizational dynamics. Projects in this field may investigate the impact of STARA on employment, job satisfaction, productivity, and the ethical implications of STARA in the workplace.
Meaning of work - Focusing on understanding the concept of work and its meaning to individuals and society. Projects in this area may explore how individuals find purpose and satisfaction in their work, the relationship between work and personal identity, and the influence of cultural and societal factors on the perception of work.
Future of work - Focusing on the anticipated changes and trends in the world of work due to various factors such as technological advancements, globalization, demographic shifts, and social and economic transformations. Projects in this field may examine topics such as the gig economy, remote work, skill requirements for future jobs, and others.
Tourists' behavior - Focusing on understanding and analyzing the behavior of tourists, including their motivations, preferences, decision-making processes, and experiences.
