    Biography

      • Dr. Ghazalnaz Sharifonnasabi is an accomplished academic and emerging leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation, currently teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at James Cook University, Singapore. With over a decade of international academic service across Malaysia, Iran, Italy, and Singapore, she has authored numerous articles in prestigious international journals, contributed to high-profile conferences, and written chapters for academic books targeted at Master’s and Ph.D. levels. She has also served as a peer reviewer for various high-impact journals and delivered keynote talks at multiple global conferences.

Her expertise spans artificial intelligence in healthcare, digital sustainability, machine learning, smart tourism, and statistical modeling. Dr. Sharifonnasabi has played a vital role in shaping future professionals through her extensive teaching and mentoring in computer science and interdisciplinary technology subjects. Her commitment to inclusive education and research-based learning is reflected in consistently excellent student evaluations (>4.9/5) and successful student-led projects such as SleepSync.

Beyond academia, Dr. Sharifonnasabi has significant hands-on experience in IT, particularly in network management and web applications. As a consultant with Nivan Company, she led the development and management of web projects that integrated both technical efficiency and strategic design. Her blend of academic insight and industry expertise makes her a unique asset across sectors.

Her academic journey began with a British Diploma in Computer and Information Technology from NCC Education. She earned a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) from Staffordshire University (Malaysia campus), followed by a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, and Sustainability from the University of Malaya, funded by an advanced scholarship. Dr. Sharifonnasabi was then awarded a fully funded Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship at Taylor’s University, where she completed her Ph.D. with distinction in just three years.

Her Ph.D. research focused on bone age estimation using dental radiographs and machine learning, with a strong humanitarian dimension aimed at protecting the rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Her work sought to prevent the misidentification and wrongful prosecution of undocumented youth by developing patented AI-based systems capable of highly accurate biological age estimation. Her patented tool, DentixAI, is now being expanded for use in immigration, forensics, and sports compliance.
