Biography

Dr. Ghazalnaz Sharifonnasabi is an accomplished academic and researcher, currently involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at James Cook University. With a wealth of experience, she has authored numerous articles in prestigious international journals, contributed to well-regarded conferences, and written chapters for academic books targeted at Master's and Ph.D. levels. She has also served as a peer reviewer for various high-impact journals and delivered keynote talks at multiple global conferences. Her expertise spans a range of fields, and she has been instrumental in shaping future professionals through her extensive teaching in computer science courses.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Sharifonnasabi has significant practical experience in IT, particularly in network management and web applications. She worked as a consultant for Nivan Company, where she played a key role in the development and management of web projects. Her technical proficiency, combined with her research capabilities, has made her a valuable asset in both academic and professional settings.

Her academic journey began with a British Diploma in Computer and Information Technology from NCC Education, followed by a dual bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from Staffordshire University, Malaysia. She furthered her studies with a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, and Sustainability from the University of Malaysia, where she was awarded an advanced scholarship. Dr. Sharifonnasabi's exceptional academic performance earned her a fully funded Vice Chancellor's Scholarship from Taylor University, where she completed her Ph.D. with honors in just three years.

Her Ph.D. research focused on bone age measurement through the integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on helping refugees and asylum seekers. The core of her research was aimed at addressing the misidentification and wrongful prosecution of young individuals who lack proper documentation to verify their age. Dr. Sharifonnasabi developed and patented innovative bone age estimation methods that demonstrated remarkable accuracy. She is currently working on expanding the reach of her research, seeking to implement it on a global scale for humanitarian purposes.
