Biography
I am originally from Singapore, a senior lecturer of psychology at James Cook University, and member of the Psychology of Active, Healthy Living (PAHL) group. PAHL is a cross-institutional health psychology group involving James Cook University and the University of Western Australia. PAHL’s mission is to harness the ‘power of people’ in promoting mental and physical health in people from all walks of life. In alignment with this mission, I have a keen interest in research that benefits the community, both offline and online. I am also keen to share my knowledge and experience with others.
When not working, you can find me engaging on one of my hobbies: Scuba diving, photography, cooking, and martial arts.

Research Interests
My main interest is in digital health and I aim to leverage the capabilities of technology to support the community. My current main areas of focus are:
Online education: I am interested in how the online education experience can be improved for both students and staff in terms of engagement, motivation, satisfaction and wellbeing.
Digital media use: In this area, I am interested in determining the impact of digital media use. This includes topics such as social media use and online gaming.
Generative AI: GenAI is revolutionising societies and the education sector is no different. I am primarily interested in how GenAI can be used to improve efficiencies for academic staff, improve student experience (such as improving academic writing skills), and ethical use.
If you are interested in any of the listed or related topics, do email me your CV and some information about your previous research experience. I am always keen to work with motivated and self-driven students.
