    Biography

Dr Teoh completed her Ph.D. (Health and Social Psychology) at North Dakota State University, USA. During her Ph.D. studies, she received a Graduate Assistantship and Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. After being awarded her Ph.D., Dr Teoh joined Heriot-Watt University (Malaysia Campus; HWUM) as an Assistant Professor before joining James Cook University (Singapore Campus) as a Senior Lecturer in 2018.

Dr Teoh is a researcher in health and social psychology. Her research focuses mainly on psychological and cardiovascular responses to stress, and hence she develops two specific lines of research. In one line of research, she examines the social comforting and social encouragement effects of social support in response to stress. In a related line of research, she focuses on the benefits of online social support. Her Master’s and Ph.D. dissertations both focused on social support effects on cardiovascular responses to stress. At HWUM, she received a research grant from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, to conduct a project that investigated the stress responses and well-being of women leaders. In addition to her main research focus, Dr Teoh has developed a research interest in energy behavior and attitudes toward renewable energy. She has been collaborating with engineers on several research grants related to techno-psychosocial implications of renewable energy.

Dr Teoh is seeking expressions of interest from potential Ph.D. students who wish to work in the following research areas:

    - women leadership and stress responses,
