Desktop review and assessment of compliance surface water and stream sediment data to provide recommendations for an updated and/ or alternative compliance framework for Lady Loretta mine. This will include review of all existing data and assessment of potential cause/s of exceedances in existing program. Recommendations for an updated limnological monitoring program to be included in the site REMP will be developed.
Synthesizing Three Decades of Seagrass Spatial Data from Torres Strait and Gulf of Carpentaria (Old ID 27428)

The Gulf of Carpentaria and Torres Strait have globally significant seagrass habitat that provide food for threatened dugong and turtle, and habitat for commercially important fish and prawns. Key to understanding, managing, mitigating risk, and monitoring seagrass in this remote region is reliable data on seagrass distribution and species composition and how these changes through time. Data on seagrass has been collected in these areas since the 1980s, but data location and storage from these efforts remains disparate, in many cases not publicly available, and in some cases has already been lost. Our study will compile, validate and synthesize historical seagrass spatial data to create a publicly available database accessible on eAtlas. This product will provide end-users with a valuable spatial resource to assist management and monitoring of seagrass in the region.

Stroke represents a major clinical and societal burden, being a leading cause of adult disability, dementia, and death. The aim is to develop a novel therapeutic approach to significantly improve patient outcomes following an ischaemic stroke through the development of a novel therapeutic agent that can be delivered in conjunction with current approved reperfusion therapy. The plan involves critical de-risking efforts to deliver a low-risk strategy for progression to clinical trial. The plan focuses on the development of prodrugs of the NK1R antagonist, befetupitant, appropriately soluble for i.v. dosing, and accompanied by preclinical PK-PD data for formal, rapid preclinical development.

The purpose of this proposal is to develop a cross-country comparative research study on the linkages between emergency care workforce policy and health equity. The activities sponsored by this grant will facilitate the development of a comparative study to be submitted to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research on multi-stakeholder perspectives on the impact of emergency care workforce policy on health equity in Canada, Australia, Rwanda, and South Africa. This proposal uniquely brings together a team with complimentary skills in health policy and systems research, emergency medicine and epidemiology, perspectives that are each essential to unpacking emergency care workforce policy.
Population assessments and ecology of threatened Queensland plants. (Old ID 29008)

This project involves the assessment of population status, abundance, and ecology of 48 NCA/EPBC Vulnerable to Critically Endangered plant species. State of condition reports or population summaries will be generated for the species identified. We also propose to collect living material to investigate the feasibility for vegetative propagation. The data will be provided to DES for use in reviews of threat classification and development of management programs. The proposed project will generate key information on the status of 48 species of threatened plants and provide an important baseline for ongoing ecological research on these species.

This is essentially a discussion opportunity for the participants who will focus on holistic assessments of mangrove forests and their relationships with coastal fisheries.
Optimisation of internal pressure for designing industrial buildings (Old ID 21871)

The internal pressure in a building is dependent on the sizes of openings in the envelope, and its volume and flexibility, and is a critical loading parameter in building design. Post windstorm damage investigations have shown that incorrect internal pressures are frequently used in building design leading to damage. This project will study the internal pressures generated in buildings with a range of volumes and openings in the envelope. A combination of model scale and full scale tests and theoretical analysis will e used to determine critical parameters for highly turbulent air-flow through openings. Results will be used to revise design data in codes and produce guidelines for consistent, optimal design of industrial type buildings.
Exploring new treatments for box jellyfish envenomation (Old ID 22220)

The best medical treatment for big box jellyfish envenoming is uncertain. To improve future treatments, we will explore the cardiotoxic mechanisms of the venom and screen for new drug and antivenom treatments using our hi-throughput real-time cardiomyocyte (heart muscle cell) assay.
