Biography
Yvette is a statistical data scientist and mathematical modeller. She specialises in designing and deploying sophisticated modelling architectures that integrate multiple data streams using a combination of process-based and machine learning methods to simulate and predict whole-of-system scenarios. When fused with industry expertise, this AI-augmented framework empowers agricultural and industry stakeholders to optimise economic and environmental resilience while navigating the complexities of highly variable and changing climates.
Currently, Yvette holds positions as Professor in Data Science (Statistics), Director of AgTAC (Agriculture, Technology and Adoption Centre) and Co-lead of Economies in the Centre for AI and Data Science Innovation at James Cook University.
Previous positions include Climate Impacts Scientist (CSIRO), Associate Dean Graduate Research Studies (JCU), Focus Area Chair for Agricultural Weather and Climate Services (World Meteorological Organisation, Geneva) and Associate Editor for the Journal of Agronomy for Sustainable Development.
