Biography
Dr. Tanya Doyle, (B. Sc, Grad. B. Ed (Hons Class 1), Ph.D., began her career in education as a secondary school teacher, before commencing sessional employment with James Cook University, leading to doctoral studies and her current appointment in Education.
Tanya teaches curriculum studies subjects in science education as well as teacher education professional practices subjects. Since 2018, Tanya has been co-leading JCU's work on the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) and, as such, much of her work focuses on the preparation of graduate teachers in the final year of their program of study. Most recently, Tanya's work in this space was recognised by way of JCU Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning for fostering classroom ready teachers, along with her colleagues Dr. Neus (Snowy) Evans and Dr. Peta Salter. Since 2019, Tanya has served as First Year Co-ordinator for Education on the Townsville campus.
Tanya's research interests range from STEM curriculum to preservice teacher education, with a focus on the role that education policy plays in shaping educational opportunities.
