Biography

Dr. Shashidhar Venkatesh Murthy (Shashi) is the Assicuate professor & Head of Discipline of Pathology. Shashi is also adjunct Professor of Pathology and Medical Education at Manipal University India & Fiji National University, Fiji Islands. Shashi has been teaching pathology to medical, dental & allied health students since 1985, after Post graduation in Anatomic Pathology from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India.

Shashi is passionate about for teaching, teaching innovations and research. Digital Pathology laboratory, Online blended learning and Integrated clinical pathology curriculum are some of his successful innovations at James Cook University are being adapted in other medical schools gobally.

The Digital Microscopy Teaching Lab at James Cook University is the innovative (worlds first) digital microscopy lab designed to teach microscopy skills to large groups of students with single staff. Currently he is part of multi-university consortium developing innovative, adaptive online learning modules for medical students.

Shashi is also part of the research team working in the area of molecular pathogenesis of diabetes, Obesity and life style disorders.

Shashi's work has been recognozed with several university & Australian National awards for University teaching.
