Biography
Shane is a musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapist and clinical educator at James Cook University (JCU), with extensive clinical experience in private practice. He has a strong interest in physiotherapy, exercise physiology and sports performance. His multidisciplinary experience has strengthened his clinical knowledge, collaborative practice and commitment to evidence-based management of musculoskeletal presentations.
Shane completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement in 2003, an Honours degree (First Class) in Exercise and Nutritional Physiology in 2004, in conjunction with the Port Adelaide Football Club, and a Master of Physiotherapy in 2011. He subsequently worked as a strength and conditioning coach and, in 2012, co-developed the MyPhysio App.
Alongside his clinical career, Shane has taught at the University of South Australia for 18 years across Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Training and Performance, Sport and Skill Analysis, and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. In 2023, he completed a PhD investigating the use of heart rate acceleration at the onset of exercise as a tool to optimise training and performance and identify non-functional overreaching.
Shane is passionate about preparing and inspiring the next generation of musculoskeletal physiotherapists through high-quality and innovative clinical teaching.
