Biography
Roberta Marcoli is dedicated to advancing sustainability and productivity in the aquaculture industry. She is currently a Research Fellow and Lead Entrepreneur at James Cook University, where she leads an AEA Ignite-funded project focused on applying molecular biology and biotechnology to support innovation in aquaculture.
Originally from Italy, Roberta holds a PhD in aquaculture and molecular biology, and her professional journey has taken her across the world, from Italy and French Polynesia to New Zealand and Australia. Throughout her career, she has focused on using cutting-edge technologies to improve productivity, sustainability, and resilience in the aquaculture sector.
In addition to her scientific work, Roberta is passionate about science communication and raising public awareness of aquaculture, sustainable seafood, and the role of innovation in supporting a more sustainable future.
