At the core of my journey as an educator and my career in the higher education sector, lies a deep commitment to research as a catalyst for shaping curriculum and fostering authentic learning experiences. I approach research with unwavering dedication to ethical practices, utilizing it to gain insights into human behavior and environments, while integrating current theory and practice. Throughout my professional trajectory, I have actively sought and created research opportunities both personally and collaboratively. By supervising research students and leading cross-campus teams in developing research strategies, I have consistently delivered impactful research that addresses the unique needs and challenges of the tropics and beyond. My ultimate goal in applying research-based practices is to directly respond to the evolving nature of communities, equipping practitioners with realistic and sustainable solutions. By intertwining teaching and research, I am afforded the opportunity to have a direct influence on individuals and societies within tropical regions. This level of research informs the development of curriculum that is attuned to the distinctive cultural, social, and geographical context through which human services are delivered in this area. Broadly encompassing the realms of social, environmental, and developmental psychology, my research interests currently revolve around interpersonal communication, adult attachment, the formation and dynamics of our relationships with the places we inhabit, and the creation of sustainable, resilient cities. Through my unwavering focus on research-based practices, I strive to address the ever-changing trends and dynamics of the global community in which we reside, while remaining attuned to the cultural, social, and geographical nuances that shape the delivery of human services. By adopting a multifaceted approach to research, I aim to significantly contribute to the future of life in the tropics, celebrating the diversity of the communities we belong to, comprehending the intricacies of our shared world, and inspiring transformative change while creating opportunities for future generations.
