Her research focuses on the intersections of professional and social identity, science communication, and researcher values, particularly within the Australian context.

Her doctoral research, The Blurred Line Between Science Communication and Advocacy: Exploring the Influence of Researcher Identity in Science Communication, examined how researchers’ professional identities shape the way they communicate science and engage with the public.

Alison is part of the team behind Professionally Psyched, a departmental podcast designed to enhance student engagement and connection within the discipline. The project received a 2024 Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT) Seed Grant to support its development.
