Alice Scott

Alice is a Lecturer in Social Work and Human Services and currently the Field Education Academic Lead in the social work programs across undergraduate and postgraduate courses at James Cook University.

Alice is a post feminist senior social worker that employs a critical/radical/structural lens to her analysis of the social, political and cultural spheres nationally and globally. Her work focuses on human rights, social justice, child protection, field education (work integrated learning) and critical/radical/structural post feminist social work theory.

Alice has had over a decade working in Far North Queensland as a child protection practitioner in regional, rural and remote communities which has shaped her future research interests of the intersections of child protection, neurodiversity, women and practitioner experiences in this complex field of work.

Alice's current research focuses on the perceptions, awareness and knowledge of higher education faculty in supporting students that are neurodiverse and the impact and outcomes of these on student success at a tertiary level.

Parallel, Alice is also working on research that focuses on the experiences of International and CALD students experiences of field education (work integrated learning) and the perceptions and awareness of placement hosts to support International and CALD social work students in non-traditional placement sites across Northern Queensland.
