Northern Australia agriculture policy: opportunities and risks

Trade, immigration and Indigenous policies have been important as have economic investments in infrastructure and research, development and extension (RD&E). These policies have evolved over the past century influencing agriculture in different ways. This history is briefly discussed to provide a context, prior to considering the current opportunities and risks for agriculture in NA.
