Exploration of Nurse-Led Ambulatory Care in Emergency Departments in Regional Australia: A Scoping Review

Role

Description
Australian healthcare relies on Emergency Departments (EDs) to provide 24-hour care. There are adverse effects for patient delays within EDs. Acute medical care is not consistently available, leading to avoidable hospital admissions and excessive reliance on EDs. In response, multiple models-of-care (MOC) have been implemented with varying results. The aim of this scoping review is to determine the existing evidence for safety and efficiency of ambulatory ED nurse-led models of care in regional Australia.
