Corals coping with climate stress: DNA methylation as a mechanism of reef resilience in extreme environments

Australia & Pacific Science Foundation
Role

Co Investigator

Description

This project addresses this gap by testing a novel mechanistic hypothesis: that gene-body DNA methylation enhances coral stress resilience not by changing gene expression levels, but by maintaining accurate transcription and preventing the accumulation of faulty transcripts as stress-response genes become more active.
