Biography
Alif (he/him) has a PhD in Psychology and Sociology from James Cook University. As a social scientist, his research interests include qualitative research methodologies, relationships and families in the LGBTQ community, coping and resilience, and critical approaches to health and illness. He is skilled and well-versed in several qualitative research methodologies and utilises them to derive insights into various social scientific questions of interest. He is also a passionate educator in qualitative research, having taught numerous qualitative methods classes in healthcare and academic settings over the past decade. Beyond his PhD, he has over 12 years of research experience utilising social science knowledge, theories, and methods at the intersections of health and public health. This includes utilising such knowledge and tools to develop and improve health services and interventions for healthcare workers and individuals from the LGBTQ community. He is also a passionate advocate for social justice and equality. He believes that research can be a powerful tool for promoting positive change in society.
