Biography
Leesa Grier, PhD is an Associate lecturer in Anatomy and Pathology in the College of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University (December 2020), where she is subject coordinator for a number of allied health programs.
My academic career continues to progress motivated by my experience and expertise in athlete performance and coaching, educational management, talent development, and skill acquisition. After earning a Bachelor (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science I began my PhD journey. I have shared my academic work through seven peer-reviewed journal publications, three of those were products of my thesis, and I have delivered presentations at both national and international conferences. My primary area of expertise in both teaching and research is skill acquisition and development. This drives my passion for fostering learning behaviours in first-year university students and cultivating athletes with the potential to excel at the elite level.
My early career researcher vision is centered on
advancing the field of sports science by contributing contemporary tailored athlete
development pathway models for sporting academies.
