Abstract

Lean supply chain principles have been well applied to help Fashion and Textile (F&T) industry to become more competitive and sustainable. In recent times, the F&T industry has been facing the COVID-19 pandemic with many supply chain disruptions. Lean concepts have changed during the crisis to create a balanced and flexible flow of textile and garment products through lean with agility, supply chain visibility, and green supply chain practices. This chapter discusses the benefits and drawbacks of the lean manufacturing in F&T industries. Further, this chapter also recommends the future development in lean and agility, sourcing flexibility and green supply chain practices that can help the industry to recharge and adjust during such a difficult time. Information technologies such as big data and the Internet of Things play supporting roles in enhancing visibility and integration for a lean and sustainable F&T development, which will be future in the lean manufacturing.
