Abstract

This special edition comprises peer reviewed papers from the 2018 Second Australasian Mental Health and Higher Education Conference (AMHHEC) in Townsville Australia. With the prevalence of mental ill-health in Australia being greatest among 18 -24-year old’s, mental health issues inevitably impact, both directly and indirectly, on the more than 1.3 million students who currently attend Australian universities, and the 100,000 full-time equivalent staff who work in them. Within this environment many teaching academics report high incidence of job stress related to work overload and work-life imbalance. This issue provides an excellent forum for sharing mental health initiatives, preventions and interventions, research, practices and ways forward that enable and empower individuals, groups and the broader community. The overall aim of this special edition is to capture and disseminate mental health research and developmental innovations beyond our conference. Our authors provide voices from the field from Australia, New Zealand, India and England.
