Abstract
[Extract] The population of Townsville is 180 389 (1) with 9.8% of the population aged 65 years and over (2) and the population of Hinchinbrook is 12 258, with 19.9% of the population aged 65 years and over.(3) Long-term health conditions are common among older adults and many have more than one, making their health needs complex. (4) Anecdotal feedback from the participating Residential Aged Care Facilities confirm that there is a need for better access to General Practioners and more consultations with RACF residents to improve care.
