What is not okay is not okay are preschool educators about controlling children or are they about teaching and learning?

As part of Catholic (Singapore) preschool education's character development program initiative, educators from three preschools engaged in an action research project, translating learning's on social behaviour and character education from professional development sessions back into their own contexts. The journey included four full day professional development sessions, reflective conversations between sessions; field visits by project leaders; focus groups, interviews, and surveys; and the enactment of social teaching and character building processes. What follows is a snapshot of different stages of the project. An authoritative approach to social teaching and character education, based on the paradigms teaching and learning informs the content of this paper.
