Abstract
The essay begins with a brief account of the earliest film-making in Queensland, and then addresses myths and discourses of Queensland in films either set or made in Queensland from 1946 to 2005, including, in particular: Sister Kenny (Dudley Nichols, 1946); The Irishman (Donald Crombie, 1978); and The Proposition (John Hillcoat, 2005).
