Abstract
[Extract] This report details the findings of an exploratory descriptive study, using focus groups and interviews, conducted with Thuringowa City Council employees in March and April, 2005. The overall aim of this research was to explore Thuringowa City Council employees' perceptions about the role of the workplace in promoting physical activity. In particular the focus groups and interviews explored employees' perceptions regarding: • Physical activity as an issue generally; • What the perceived barriers to physical activity were; and • What might be some possible ways that the workplace could promote the physical activity of employees.
