Corporate social responsibility: an area of occupational social work practice

Abstract

Occupational social work is emerging as a field of social work practice. In the post globalization phase, the concept of 'development' and 'empowerment' has gained ground with rights based perspectives, theory; CSR becomes a legitimate filed for occupational social work practice. In this paper, an attempt has also been made to explore a new role for diminishing trade unionism with respect to growing Corporate Social Responsibility. Redesigning of courses of labour welfare/Human Relations/HRD with emphasis of newer concepts like occupational social work, employee assistance programme, CSR in the syllabi of post graduate studies in social work is the need of hour.
