For years Kozier & Erb’s Fundamentals of Nursing has been the gold standard in helping students embarking on their nursing careers. Kozier and Erb’s Fundamentals of Nursing, First Australian Edition presents the fundamentals of nursing care within the framework of the nursing process. Chapter 21: A knowledge of growth and development is essential for nurses if they are to identify developmental needs and problems. This chapter applies the concepts of growth and development introduced in Chapter 20 to the prenatal period and to the neonate, infant, toddler, preschooler, school-age child and adolescent. Each developmental stage includes physical, psychosocial, cognitive, moral and spiritual aspects. Health assessment and promotion of health and wellness are emphasised.
