Biography
Natalie has completed a Bachelor of Science and Honours (Marine Science) at the University of Western Australia. Her honours project used oceanographic modelling and particle tracking to optimise the release dates and locations for rehabilitated sea turtles.
Natalie completed her PhD in 2025 at Charles Darwin University, using an interdisciplinary, Indigenous co-designed approach to improve understanding of green turtle foraging ecology, genetic connectivity, and exposure to cumulative threats in northern Australia.
By integrating spatial ecology, genetics, participatory risk mapping, and applied science communication, the research delivered practical tools and evidence to support Indigenous-led and government-led conservation and management of green turtles across Sea Country.
Her current research focuses on applying remote sensing and spatial methods, alongside Indigenous oral histories and knowledge systems, to support integrated land and sea management.
