Biography
Dr Marie L. Caltabiano is an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Group, College of Healthcare Sciences at James Cook University (JCU), Australia. She is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society, a Fellow of the APS College of Health Psychologists and a Member of the American Psychological Association. Marie is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with Health Psychology as the Area of practice endorsement. Marie is widely published both nationally and internationally in the areas of chronic illness management (diabetes, hepatitis, kidney disease), body image and disordered eating, obesity and bariatric surgery outcomes. She is a Research Investigator with the International Academy of Body Image, Eating Problems and Health. Dr Caltabiano has 35 years of experience in teaching, supervision and training of higher education students. She has been a recipient of both an Australian Learning & Teaching Citation (ALTC) and a JCU Faculty Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. In 2014 Dr Caltabiano received the APS College of Health Psychologists Award of Distinction. Marie has co-authored 2 Australasian editions of Health Psychology: Biopsychosocial Interactions and co-edited Applied Topics in Health Psychology.
