Biography

I am a soil scientist specialising in the development of statistical and numerical methods to assess soil biophysical properties and ecosystem functions across landscapes. My research focuses on digital soil mapping, soil spectroscopy, spatial modelling, and the evaluation of soil multifunctionality under global change and land management.

Before joining James Cook University, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at INRAE in France and a Research Associate at the University of Sydney. I completed my PhD in Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands and was awarded my Habilitation to Supervise Research from the University of Montpellier. I also hold a Master’s degree in epistemology and history of sciences from the University of Nantes.

I have worked extensively across Europe and Australia on projects spanning soil carbon, biodiversity, and soil function assessment.

Are you interested in a research project in soil science? Whether you're looking for an undergraduate, master's, PhD, or postdoctoral project, feel free to reach out to me at alexandre.wadoux@jcu.edu.au. I’m always happy to discuss potential topics!
