Seascape Management Plan for the Wet Tropics

This Seascape Management Plan (SMP) provides a strategic framework for investing pooled environmental offset funds into actions that secure long-term conservation outcomes for seagrass in the Wet Tropics. It consolidates three separate financial settlement offsets into a single program, ensuring funds are directed toward coordinated, measurable, and regionally significant outcomes in line with Queensland’s Environmental Offsets Policy and the Aquatic Ecosystem Rehabilitation Process framework. The SMP examines and reviews current knowledge, condition and trends in seagrasses of the Wet Tropics and existing restoration/rehabilitation activities and opportunities. Based on this information it sets out a roadmap for, prioritisation, and implementation of management and rehabilitation activities directed at achieving maximum benefit for seagrass outcomes in the Wet Tropics with the funds available, and a pathway for delivery in partnership with Traditional Owners and regional stakeholders.
