Revisiting the Miller-Kanazawa debate: should Asia Be afforded more attention From evolutionary psychologists?

A decade ago, the Miller-Kanazawa debate occurred with Dr. Geoffrey Miller urging evolutionary psychologists to re-focus their propagatory efforts upon the Asia region and Dr. Satoshi Kanazawa urging otherwise. Without the establishment of a clear impetus, a decade later, the Asia region continues to receive lukewarm attention from Western evolutionary psychology communities. With the increasing entrenchment of the standard social science model in the region, any potential that the Asia region holds for evolutionary psychology propagation and advancement may soon dissipate. It is hence timely to revisit the Miller-Kanazawa debate; to re-assess key issues raised during the debate, as well as to examine pertinent sociopolitical considerations, to determine if it may be worthwhile to re-focus the field’s efforts upon the Asia before the standard social science model becomes completely entrenched in the region.
