Abstract
The rapid expansion of the aquaculture industry in southeast Asia has seen increasing use of floating-cage culture systems. This has resulted in a greater incidence of diseases which can have significant production losses (Chua and others 1993). Viruses are not commonly identified as aetiological agents and the difficulty associated with detecting and managing viral infections magnifies their economic impact on the aquaculture industry.
