Abstract

[Extract] Diane Austin-Broos is an eminent anthropologist whose ethnographic research in Australia has focussed on the Arrernte people of central Australia. As such, she writes with authority on the two themes which dominate this book: the role of anthropology in shaping public attitudes and debates about Aboriginal people, and the recent disputes over policy for Aboriginal people in remote Australia.
