The objective of the study was to examine how pre-service Health and Physical Education (HPE) teachers in a regional university perceive their competencies in teaching Traditional Indigenous Games (TIGs) and sports in alignment with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Graduate Standards 1.4 and 2.4. A positive contribution to the field, this longitudinal study offers value to the existing body of knowledge, showcasing how targeted intervention in HPE subjects increases pre-service teachers' (PSTs) confidence and competency to embed Indigenous knowledges and perspectives into their lessons.
