Led by Uni NOVA Portugal, the FLORA (Fostering women-Led sustainable and cultural innOvation in faRming and Rural Areas) project was a Horizon Europe initiative that aimed to strengthen gender equality, innovation capacity, and sustainable development in rural and farming communities across Europe. Working through five pilot regions in Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Estonia, and Ireland, FLORA brings together researchers, industry, government, and community stakeholders to support women-led entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and leadership in rural areas through training, mentoring, innovation ecosystems, and policy development. The project sought to improve women's participation in decision-making, foster sustainable farming practices, and build stronger rural innovation networks.
