Description
The Queensland Technology Future Fund (QTFF) MolecuLight Fluorescence Imaging Evaluation for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Care project evaluated the implementation and early outcomes of a handheld imaging device that enables clinicians to visualise bacterial burden and monitor wound healing in real time. Conducted across Townsville and regional North Queensland services, the evaluation assessed clinical effectiveness, patient and clinician experiences, implementation feasibility, and potential economic benefits. Findings indicated high levels of patient satisfaction, improved diagnostic confidence among clinicians, and promising indications of enhanced wound management and service efficiency. The project was led by Prof Usman Malabu, who served as Principal Investigator and Project Lead, overseeing project coordination, recruitment, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
