- A CITBA Small Research Grant enabled 3 JCU Singapore academics to engage with Smiling Gecko over a 3-day site visit. We were very inspired by the positive change in the life of villages impacted by Smiling Gecko from primary through to higher education and skills building in architecture, farming, building, woodwork, and running a farm resort. We are continuing to engage with Smiling Gecko through the participation of their Board members in the CEO Lounge (June 2026) organised by JCU Singapore Business School and two podcasts (June & July 2026) in JCU Conversations. We hope to build this relationship with Smiling Gecko to increase JCU's impact on livelihoods in remote communities in SE Asia, in line with our mission to create a brighter future for life in the tropics.
