Quantitative methods in ecosystem distribution mapping
- Discipline
- Conservation Biology
- Methodology
- Spatial statistics and quantitative ecology
- Date
- 01 Jul 2024
- Description
- Alarmingly, less than 14% of the world's ecosystem types are subject to high resolution, earth observation based mapping and monitoring programs. This project aims to address this need by develop and rigorously test new ecosystem distribution models, which integrate earth observation data with conceptual ecosystem models to support a range of conservation and regulatory applications.
- Keywords
- ecosystems;global change;ecological statistics;quantitative methods
- Would Suit Applicants Who
- Are interested in quantitative methods such as machine learning and deep learning to address a significant knowledge gap that is hindering our ability to conserve ecosystems at large spatial scales.
