Biography
Dr. Swapna Chaudhary is a passionate pharmacist and researcher dedicated to advancing inclusive and patient-centered healthcare. She merges her expertise as a community, consultant, general practice, and pain clinic pharmacist with her role as Lecturer at James Cook University, shaping progressive pharmacy practice and research. Her research focuses on pharmacy practice, cultural competence, LGBTQIA+ health, multidisciplinary care, and rural, remote, and regional health. With expertise in qualitative and mixed methods research, Dr. Chaudhary has published widely in national and international journals and presented at leading conferences worldwide, creating impact through global collaborations. Her PhD on the role of pharmacists in transgender healthcare produced the pioneering Gender Inclusivity in Pharmacy Framework and Australia’s first national pharmacist training program in transgender health, enhancing competence and confidence in gender-affirming care. She is widely recognised for her leadership and research, receiving awards such as the PSA QLD Early Career Pharmacist Award, the LGBTQ Inclusive Innovation Award, and the Dean’s Award for Research Excellence. Through her work, Dr. Chaudhary continues to champion equity, innovation, and culturally responsive pharmacy practice.
