Shaymaviswanathan Karnaneedi

My name is Shay, and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in Allergology at the Molecular Allergy Research Laboratory (MARL) at James Cook University (JCU), Australia, funded the NHMRC Centre for Food Allergy Research (CFAR). Additionally, I am also a Lecturer in Molecular Biology at JCU.

I earned my PhD (cum laude) with a dissertation focused on 'Improving Diagnostics and Management of Shellfish Allergy by Identifying Putative Allergens in Shellfish and Cross-Reactive Novel Allergens in Edible Insects.' Prior to this, I obtained a B.Sc. (Honours) in Genetics and Genomics from JCU, where my research centred on 'Identifying Allergens Using Bioinformatics Tools.'

My expertise encompasses Allergy Research, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, and Immunology. I am particularly skilled in scientific teaching, research, data analysis, laboratory science, and creative science communication.
