Biography
Md. Eram Hosen is a researcher at the Department of Biomedical Science and Molecular Biology, College of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University (JCU), Townsville. His research focuses on mosquito-borne viruses, host-pathogen interactions, and genomic surveillance using metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing approaches. His work aims to uncover the diversity, ecology, and evolutionary dynamics of arboviruses circulating in mosquito populations, with the goal of improving early detection and strengthening public and animal health biosecurity. He holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh and is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Medical, Molecular and Veterinary Sciences at JCU.
Before joining JCU, he served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at SSIB, Affiliated with University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. During this period, he supervised 10 undergraduate research project students and received a Special Research Grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) to support his research activities. He published 32 peer-reviewed articles with most appearing in Q1 journals.
