Biography
Dr Mahmood Sadat-Noori is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Science and Engineering at James Cook University (JCU), where he also serves as the Academic Lead for the Masters of Engineering - Water Resources Management Program.
Mahmood's research explores the interface between hydrology, water quality, and environmental restoration, with a particular focus on surface water–groundwater interactions. He examines how the connectivity between these systems influences both the quantity and quality of water resources, providing valuable insights to inform effective management strategies.
Mahmood employs a multi-disciplinary approach to trace the sources and pathways of key solutes, including carbon, nutrients, and trace metals, in surface waters. Mahmood has extensive experience conducting large-scale field studies and analysing hydrogeological, hydrochemical, and environmental tracer data (radon and radium) to assess surface water and groundwater hydrology and quality.
Mahmood is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hydrology (Impact Factor: 6.4), handling manuscripts related to groundwater-surface water interactions, groundwater discharge and water quality.
PhD Scholarships
PhD Scholarships are available for self-motivated candidates with strong academic backgrounds.
I welcome inquiries from prospective Honours, Masters and PhD students and am happy to discuss projects to suit individual interests and needs.
Please contact me to discuss projects that would follow up or are related to any of my publications. Your email should include your CV, academic transcript, proof of English language proficiency (for international applicants), and recent publication(s), if available.
JCU Scholarships for PhD Candidates are granted each year based on a competitive selection process, prioritising top-ranking applicants.
If you are an international student, consider applying for an International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP).
Visit the Graduate Research School website for further details regarding the application process and scholarship information.
The deadline for PhD scholarships for international candidates is at the end of August.
