Biography

Kuol holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) from RMIT University, completed in 2011, and a Master of Social Science (Environment and Planning) from the same institution in 2013. His master’s thesis explored how rural development can mitigate ethnic conflict in South Sudan.

In 2018, he commenced a Master of Arts in Politics at La Trobe University, graduating in 2020 with a 40,000-word research thesis, The Legacy of Civil War in South Sudan: Elite Ethno-Politics and Failed Peace Agreements. This thesis was independently assessed by external examiners.

Kuol has accumulated over ten years of professional experience in the community sector, working across diverse roles from Engagement Officer to Senior Case Worker, where he developed expertise in supporting vulnerable communities and fostering social inclusion.

In 2023, Kuol began his PhD at The Cairns Institute, James Cook University, where his research focuses on identifying potential pathways for long-term, sustainable peacebuilding in South Sudan.
