Biography

I received my PhD from the University of Melbourne Vet School, where I studied the modulation of immune responses to DNA vaccines in sheep. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Melbourne Veterinary School (Melbourne, Australia) and ILRI (Nairobi, Kenya), I pursued research on the in vivo host-pathogen interplay and immunobiology by developing a novel model that allows the harvest of efferent lymph draining the lungs of sheep in real-time. As a lecturer at the University of Melbourne, I conducted and supervised a broad range of studies, including the establishment of a novel model for harvesting porcine lymph draining the thoracic duct and another novel model for collecting ovine mammary efferent lymph in real-time. I also studied the lymphatic anatomy of ferrets to develop novel models for sampling lymph draining from the nose and lungs. At JCU, I am pursuing research to better understand respiratory immunobiology and immunopathobiology.
